Almost nobody seems to know about the fastest and easiest way to take and share a screenshot in Windows, and it’s built-in natively to the OS.
When designing new websites or maintaining websites for our clients, we find ourselves having to make and share screenshots of portions of the screen all the time. Fortunately, it’s so easy to do.
The video demonstrates it in 30 seconds:
For those who don’t want to watch the video, here are the instructions:
- Press (and hold) Windows Key + Shift + S
- Click and drag over the area you wish to take a screenshot of
- Your screenshot is already copied! You can now paste it anywhere that supports it using ctrl + v
- Alternatively, you can click the thumbnail of your screenshot in the bottom right of your screen to open up the Snip & Sketch tool which allows you to do things like draw circles or arrows or highlight text, and then save the updated image or copy it to the clipboard
That’s it! It’s so easy.
