How to Disable “Use Facebook as Page” And Post as Self

Updated January 21st, 2013

For those of you struggling to post on their page as their personal Facebook user, there is a solution. There is a setting, beyond “Use Facebook as Page,” which is preventing you from doing what you are trying to do. To post as yourself from your personal Facebook profile, here is what you do. (Note: Every admin of a page with this problem will have to do this for themselves, it doesn’t apply globally to all of them)

1.  Go to your Facebook page. The one you are attempting to post on as yourself but is giving you trouble.
2. Update January 21st, 2013: Near the top of the screen, under the main navigation bar, it will say “You are posting, commenting, and liking as NAME”. It will say who you are posting as, either yourself or the page. To change it, click the self explanatory link just after that. It will say “Change to NAME.” Click that link to toggle who you are posting as.
UPDATE May 3, 2012: Right near the top of the window just to the right of center, click “Manage” and then select “Edit Page.” Old method before timeline: In the upper-right corner of the page, right under home, click “edit page.”
3. On the left, click the top option called “Your Settings.”
4. Uncheck the top box that says, “Always comment and post on your page as pagename, even when using Facebook as yourname.”
5. Done! To switch back and forth between posting as yourself and posting as the page, click the “use facebook as pagename” or “use facebook as yourname” link on the right of the main page screen, under the “Admins” header.

Hope that helps you out! It seems like a strange option to have, but I think it is enabled by default so I am sure lots of people have this problem.
